Home Hair Care...

Everyone loves the 'Just from the Salon' look and feel of hair that has been freshly washed, pruned, preened and styled to perfection. When it comes to the days and weeks following however, many people struggle to achieve or maintain the 'styled and groomed' look achieved - I myself have gone home and refrained from allowing the slightest touch of the hair, slept in an uncomfortable position and taken pictures, all with the mission of keeping the look immaculate and having back up for when it does get washed (or rained on).

Don't fear - maintaining your look at home needn't be as hard as you may think, all you need is some advice and guidance from your trusty stylist. ANY decent stylist will be more than happy to guide you through your chosen look, from washing & conditioning to protecting, drying and styling.... The happier you are in the days and weeks that follow, the happy they are!

There can be a multitude of reasons for not maintaining your hair outside of your regular trip to the salon - lack of time ranks high up on the list. A good stylist will find out about your day to day life, work life and time restrictions which will eat into any free time which could be spent on hair care. They aren't generally just being nosy.... A successful trip to the salon will ensure you leave with a style that you can manage in the weeks or months between visits so make sure you're honest with your stylist when it comes to the ability to spend time on your hair. Easy to manage styles don't have to be boring! Talk to your stylist and find the best result for you. A short choppy haircut may sound like a great idea in theory, but when you're in a rush to get out and get the kids to school with hair fresh from the pillow a quick brush and a bobble isn't going to help. The right cut for you is key.

Colour can liven up any hair cut. Whether it's a few face framing highlights, an all over cut enhancing block colour or something a bit more daring - there's something for everyone! Very few people these days are complete colour 'virgins' and it's always a pleasure to get a full head of untouched natural hair in the chair in front of you... Saying this, I am a believer that there is a colour treatment for everyone! Now the important bit!! Coloured hair comes with responsibility!! You MUST take care of it and understand what you're commiting to... I don't want to scare anyone and coloured hair care can be straight forward but please, please, please listen to your stylists advice, follow it and your hair can stay as stunning in the weeks to come as it was the day it was created.

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be adding some information to suit a variety of hair needs, whether it be quick links to easy home conditioning treatments, styling tips or reviews of hair products.... All with the aim of making home hair care easier. If there's anything specific you'd like me to research or discuss, please let me know...

And don't forget, if you worry about re-creating your look at home, ASK your hairdresser! If they're worth anything they will happily give sound advice on how to keep your hair looking and feeling amazing until you see them again.......remember:
